MPA student Cintia Guerra, Founder of IDEAS, Speaks at the Graduation Event of the organization

image1Graduation season is upon us and although Cintia Guerra is just finishing her first year in the MPA program at SFSU, this graduation season is more special than ever for her. In the Fall of 2008, Cintia founded IDEAS (Improving Dreams, Equity, Access and Success), a student organization at San Francisco State University that advocates for AB540 and undocumented students. The goal of this organization is to encourage and empower immigrant students, especially AB540 students, to continue higher education. This year, IDEAS hosted their very own graduation titled the “Beyond Borders Graduation” exceeding all the expectations that Cintia had for the organization. Cintia’s main objective was to create a safe space where undocumented students could share information about resources available to them as well as having a support group where undocumented students felt comfortable disclosing their status. But today, IDEAS organizes campus events, socials, workshops, provides information on scholarships, legislative updates and resources to ultimately help students achieve their goals and reach their full potential.
