July – August 2011 Student, Alumni, Staff and Faculty Activities

  • Professor Sheldon Gen’s Spring 2011 PA 776: Environmental Policy class participated with the Wikipedia Foundation on a project designed to improve public policy knowledge on the Wikipedia website.   Highlighted in California Watch‘s article  titled, “Once scorned Wikipedia now embraced in school”, Dr. Gen was quoted as saying that “his graduate students chose topics ranging from Mendocino County’s ban on genetically modified organisms to recent amendments to the Clean Air Act”.
  • Garrett Dunwoody (MPA, 2010) has a new position as a “relationship manager supporting the San Mateo County Human Services Agency and the Department of Housing“.  He is also teaching Geographic Information Systems classes for SF State’s GIS Certificate program.
  • A current student, Sarah McGuire, is now working for the Salvation Army as a General Program Assistant.
  • Another current student, Kristina Stangl, has moved from working at a law office to a new job as a Case Management Analyst with the United States Courts.
  • After working as an intern with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, Adam Crenshaw (MPA, 2011) entered a new position as the Transportation Investment Program Manager with the same agency– and then received his MPA  one month later.
  • David Bergman (MPA, 2007) moved to New York City and has opened a business as a certified mediator and consultant. David was certified as a mediator by the San Francisco Bar in 2010.
  • Another 2007 graduate, Holly Dalton (MPA, 2007) is now Associate Director of Recruitment for the College of Business at Saint Mary’s College of California .
  • Nancy Gilbert (MPA, 2004) and one of our many Presidential Management Fellows, is now Program Manager, Office of Small Business Development Centers at the U.S. Small Business Administration.
